WTB: LWB 3600mm 319

Beitragvon Ron500E » 05.06.2016, 04:59

Looking to buy an L or O 319 with a 3600mm wheelbase for another project....
Condition is not all that important and it need not be complete.
But chassis must be undamaged.

Thanks,

Ron

Gday Ron,

Have you noticed this 319?
https://www.classic-trader.com/us/cars/ ... 1964/46680

Is your project to manufacture a transporter for the 500E?

If so.....

Ok, I am not 100% sure and vaguely remember that there two guys on this forum over years who are/were from Poland.

Forum member " stomek ' had a long wheel base for sale at one stage. His facebook page is Old-Merc-Garage. He maybe able to help??

Also, years ago (??) another Polish guy had a short wheel base L319. To extend the chassis, he cut the rear chassis and welded in a new longer section to make a transporter. I cant find his link but Im sure its still out there in the interwebs. This is the only link I can find at the moment, but it looks like he sold the 319 transporter . http://heavycherry.com/imgs/a/b/x/l/g/m ... _1_lgw.jpg

And thirdly there is the other option if your in the US. The prices is, um.... MMMmmmmmm. Some serious money still if you were to extend the chassis.

Hello Brad:
Thanks for the info.
Yes, I plan on making a transporter from my 65 Pagoda. It will be much different from the others....
I have accumulated enough period German parts from the 60's to make it quite special I hope.

I have a 500E and a few Pre-Merger AMG's but I think they are too heavy for the mighty 319 engine to pull......
Has anyone ever successfully done a 617 or other more powerful engine swap?

Kind Regards,

Ron

The price on the first link is 70,000 Euros. A beautiful restoration but still 70K Euro's.
