peformance upgrade?

Beitragvon Josh » 20.08.2017, 21:00

hello from England hope everyone is well and enjoying their 319er
so today I took my 319 on a 60 mile drive everything went well but wow its slow 50mph top speed and the engine was screaming.
I was thinking maybe I could run a low boost turbo setup? I would need to change the diesel fuel pump also I was thinking to change the rear axle ratio? so what I need to find out
1 will any other axles fit the l319 that has a taller ratio?
2 is there a diesel injection pump that is mechanical with turbo boost enrichment that will fit the om636?
thanks in advance

Im also looking for a rear axle with better ratio...
Perhaps newer 608 etc have gears that fit?
Somebody must have done this before?

What I know and can read from the engine data is that we have a ratio of 1:5,857?
I also would like to change my ratio for a more comfortable way of driving instead this concrete mill ; -)
Always open for suggestions

Ich denke das die original verwendete motoren nicht geeignet sind fur eine starkere axle

I would really like to here about the best set-up for my o319 as well
In the states I could not find anyone knowledgeable or willing to help me tune my 0M636 .

I ended up putting a Toyota 20R engine with a 5 speed manual transmission in it. I now have twice the HP and the overdrive in the transmission allows me to get up to 65 on the freeway but I lost a lot of torque. It remains way under powered to move this
8,000 lb. vehicle.

The translation to english does not make a lot of sense. I also have a 5 speed manual transmition with overdrive so I can get up to 65 MPH on the freeway.
It is running very bad right now. I do not know what to do.

om616 72PS 5 speed gears (overdrive) and you can run 110 kilometers an hour. Will I did last time 114 ! on google maps..! I like the combo and in good condition you can make 100 kilometer with 10 liter diesel on the highway. It's still not very very powerfull. A friend of me runs a 319 with a om602 (no turbo) and 5 gears and a 508 axle. That runs really good, no loss of power while driving uphill. But a lot of work !!! and a lot to change!

Thank you for the great information. I do have a gas Mercedes M115/w115 with a 4 speed automatic but I am missing the intake and exhuast manifold and carberator. If installed I would have more HP but the gearing would be the same and not go any faster. I have thought of purchasing an aftermarket product called a "Gear Vedor," which is installed as part of the drive train and will increase the speed by only 10 MPH. $$$

at least you need a 5 speed overdrive! I also have mounted R16 6.50 tyres. WHich is just a little difference with the R16 6.00.
