Hallo, I am having problems with the indicators; on the way to the MOT startion (TUV) they stopped working. They had been a bit intermittent, but yesterday they stopped working entirely. I am not sure whether the problem is the switch on the steering wheel, or the flasher relay (blinkgeber?). I have not been able to remove the round Mercedes star on the steering wheel to gain access to the switch/wiring: it feels that I will break it by levering out too hard. Is there a method for removing it safely?
The indicators have started to work again, but only sometimes, and then they will sometimes stop. Does anyone know if this might be the relay unit (blinkgeber)? I have checked all connections and fuses. I think the van was rewired when in service as a fire engine because all the wires, fittings look new. I don't think it's a bad earth problem.
Can someone please tell me the Bosch part number for the blinkgeber. The one on my 319 says
SH/BVE 1/12/3
12v (2+1) x15w
I have been told by my Bosch dealer that it should be a 10 digit number. Or is there an alternative relay I can use? I am using a trailer with lights so I think I need a heavy duty flasher relay which I expect was already fitted to the truck.
Many thanks for any help.
Jamie
PS, Compay: my truck is still running very well on the 2.4 OM616 and 5 speed 307 gearbox, and is now more reliable, same speed but with maybe a little more torque, and also cheaper on fuel! Thanks for all your help with the motor transplant!
