Hello panzerjim,

what a pity, of course, what a dissapointment... :trost:

But who is this my friend: :Wandhauer: :Wandhauer: :Wandhauer: ?

Do not worry about the Problem :greis: , but the solution :top:

Was there a failure with the adjustment of the timing between crankshaft, camshaft and injection pump? Or was the nut loosen?

These are the last steps before the OM 636 will run for the next fifty years.

Kind regards

Harald

you are so kind harald, but reality just catch me one hour ago

So I disassembled the plate on the side of the engine and there ... bad surprise. It confirms my first feelings, one of the pushers tightened in the block. Why ? How? I do not know ... to check if the others move well I turn the wheel and there the drama ..... none of the pushers move, no rockers either so I think the camshaft died ... .

And in bonus the nipple (new) under the break jar has also punctured, result: brake fluid that made me blistered a lot of paint on the chassis ...

For the engine I will try to disassemble the oil pan and see what I find in but in my opinion I am good to find another engine ..... outch my bank account ... it will not take the road so soon the Grouper!

ca c'est super domage! quand tu va changer le moteur, utilisee une om616 avec une boit de 5 vitesse. 711.113 je pense! avec une vraiment overdrive. Bon change...

Today I take out the engine and disassemble it to see if it is safer. and for the OM616 i don't know, i'd like to keep the original motorization. for the 5 speed gearbox, i don't know if it's possible because the Gear lever is behind the steering wheel and not on the floor.

so ! Doctor's verdict after operation heart open! Already it was necessary to take out the engine ... and the first time it had not been of all rest to put it in.

I started by removing the cylinder head, side valves, no worries, piston side, we see that the second piston came to strike the valve because this one remained open. On the picture we see not too much but in truth it is obvious:

easier without the cylinder head :

And here is the guilty !!!!!! The screw that clamps the gear on the camshaft is loose! (Gok ok ... the guilty is me), shifting off the distri and PAF ! the rod of tippers as well as the pusher. At first glance the camshaft il safe ! :klatsch:

I managed to pull out the pusher which in fact was not so stuck. In the end I did not need to pull out the engine but it's much simpler to work on it outside.

Next step I will continue the bodywork while waiting to find a push rod and a rocker rod

tcho !

Hi Mr Panzer Jim

I'm the new boy on this forum (but not new) and just want to say I've read your thread twice and its very inspirational. I know hard physical work but you seem to take it to the next level !
Good luck with the house move (how will you find another hangar a big as what you have) ?

Keep up the good work, your 319 seems so close to getting up and running and we are all watching in anticipation I'm sure ..

Cheers Rob (Robjota)

the block, the injection pump and the cylinder head are back in place! I set everything right this time by following scrupulously the procedure! it will be necessary to remake the adjustment of tippers and to put everything together again before starting again!
